Sea Glass

This jewellery is hand made from sea glass collected by the artist from the beaches of Britain, accented with shells and natural pearls. Many people remember looking for sea glass on childhood summer holidays, seeking out the tiny, jewel -coloured fragments: aqua, bottle green and occasionally, if you were very lucky, a piece of blue. The result of shipwrecks, Victorian rubbish dumps and litterbugs across the ages, sea glass has a magical quality, poised midway between manmade and organic .These everyday items: drink bottles, food jars, medicine flasks are transformed by the waves into something rich and strange. The effect of being rolled to and fro in sea and sand creates a frosted surface, a variety of random shapes and a unique beauty that can only be produced by nature. Each piece of jewellery is unique.
